About

A free Minesweeper solver that shows its working.

What this site is

Minesweeper Solver helps you when a board gets stuck. You enter the numbers from your game, and it tells you which covered cells are certainly safe, which are certainly mines, and how likely a mine is in every other cell.

How the results are calculated

The solver turns every revealed number into an equation, splits the covered cells that touch a number into groups that do not affect each other, and checks every mine layout that fits the numbers in each group. It then combines the groups using the total mine count. The percentages are exact counts, not estimates from random simulation. The full explanation is on the home page.

The solver is checked against a slow brute-force method on many random boards, and the common patterns such as 1-2-1 and 1-2-2-1 have their own tests.

Who runs it

The site is made and maintained by one independent developer, and has been since October 2026. It is free to use. It is not connected to Microsoft, Google or the publisher of any Minesweeper game; the game names on the site are used only to say which games the solver can help with.

Known limits

The exact odds are calculated in your browser, so very large or complicated boards can take longer. If the time limit is reached, the solver says so and shows only the cells it has already proven safe or mined. Covered cells that touch no number share one chance, which is shown in the summary above the board.

Updates

  • October 4, 2026: The site launched with the solver, reading a board from a screenshot, and three looks to choose from (Modern, Classic and Sky).
